Jakarta: My Firsts (August 14-DAY 2-First Safari)

 August 14-DAY 2-First Safari

We woke up at 0400H to fix the things we would bring for the trip. We head up to (city) We haven’t had a decent breakfast so they decided to head to Cimory for a healthy breakfast fresh milk and some pastries, but then they were closed because it was the Ramadan season, though they sold some milk and other stuff in their store. They also allowed us to roam around the place.

After eating we then got some pasalubongs and headed back to the road. This time my uncle got the right directions to Taman Safari it was a lot longer drive than yesterday’s. So we decided to play games & even tried reviewing my cousin for his math class, but darn was it hard to understand.

You would sense that you are near the place because you would encounter peddlers selling souvenirs and even vegetables & fruits to feed the animals. As you get closer to the Safari entrance the price goes way higher so better buy your animal treats as soon as you see a few.

As we arrived at Taman Safari there was an option to ride the tram or use your own car. My uncle decided to use the car, he was supposed to bring it to the car wash anyway. They also have different rates for foreigners compared to the locals.
Here’s he updated rates:

We of course asked for a map and brochures with the show schedules on it. So we went on the safari. It was nice to see how clean the place is. And how the area is guarded by guides and there were signs all over the place so you won’t get lost (and yeah their guides can speak English).
It was nice how the wild animals roam around freely and are very much used to having cars around them. They were going close to the vehicle even if you are not teasing them with food. Though there were some which you really have to entice to get near you and of course for you to have a good picture with them.

After the safari you would reach the parking area. We reached the parking area around 1230H so we got our picnic basket and ate. Typically you would really reach Lunch time with the usual speed the cars during the safari. There are also restaurants & picnic areas in the place. While eating we planned our time since there were show times for the animal shows. After our lunch we headed out to the open area nearby, other guests were watching a show. They speak some English words and the rest is Bahasa.

So after the show we learned that there would be a tram bringing us to the other sights of the place where the animal shows are. . The tram comes back every now and then, I just forgot the frequency but I think it is safe to say about every hour. So before heading out we decided to buy some souvenirs and also had an Elephant ride.
The first stop was the Cowboy show. It was a fun show I actually wanted to film it coz it was great, but then it is not allowed, perhaps because the show is just the same all the time. The show was not just about animals as actors but it really has human actors and very good special effects. Speaking of special effects (this might be a spoiler but hey for your own good mehn), they have a part where they would wet the audience. Tip it’s at the later part. So tip #1 don’t seat near the gates in the front rows they really tend to wet the people near the set. Tip #2 see if the seat in front of you has a hole, if there is good luck, we had the same faith!

There were also other shows like these ones…
Ball of death, 5 motor cycle riders go inside that round ball and do some stunts

The animal show, they have birds, dogs, monkeys, ducks, goats, etc.

My first safari experience was really great and obviously would be the basis of my other safari trips. (Like theZOObic Safari trip)
